Quick shout out to Maker Works of Ann Arbor – I found out about these guys at the Shadow Art Fair last weekend and am really excited about this opening soon! Their space hosts all kinds of high-tech, fancy-pants tools for just about every project you could think of – electronics, metal and woodworking, 3D printing, textiles and crafting. Yes – they even have stuff with LASERS (though probably no sharks – although you could always 3D print a shark and affix a laser to it – sweet!!).
When they open, you’ll be able to sign up for membership by the day, month, or year to use all of their fun toys. They’ll also have classes teaching you how to use everything so that you can make great stuff. (Since I don’t even know what half these machines are, the classes are what I’m really drooling over, hehe.)
Find out more about Maker Works at their website, read their latest blog post, and Like them on Facebook. You can also sign up for email updates on their site.

Thanks Mosiac Geek for writing about Maker Works! We will be at the Maker Faire Detroit next weekend so stop past and visit our booth and find out more information about memberships! And to give you a heads up, there will be LOTS of teaching opportunities at Maker Works!
